AIMSUN NEXT

AIMSUN NEXT is a simulation software that gives the ability for networks of all sizes to be modelled within the same platform. It supports the modelling of wider areas, in macrosimulation level, while within those, smaller sections can be defined for more detailed analysis. This allows for macroscopic, mesoscopic, microscopic as well as hybrid simulations to be undertaken. Aimsun models are used to help understand transportation network performance and predict its future evolution, as well as to support decision making.

There are two different types of assignment available for microscopic, mesoscopic and hybrid simulations with AIMSUN: Static Assignment (SA) where traffic follows predefined vehicle routes with no choice on the path selection, and Dynamic Assignment (DA), which is a path selection decision model that takes into account time dependent characteristics of the network – like traffic signals and travel times. Modelling varying levels of SA and DA within the same model is also feasible.

AIMSUN provides the opportunity to also model Public Transport and pedestrian movements, as well as autonomous and connected vehicles.
