East Hill Planning Application
The existing Medway Aimsun Model was adapted and used both at macro and micro simulation levels under different demand and network configurations.
The existing Medway Aimsun Model was used for comprehensive testing of different future year scenarios, as part of the supporting evidence in the Maidstone Local Plan Review for Lidsing Garden Village proposed allocation. The development would provide around 2,000 dwellings, 14 hectares of employment, a three-form entry primary school, and a local commercial centre, along with a new link road and a new connection to M2 Junction 4.
An exercise of assessing the impact of the proposed allocation within this model framework was undertaken to complement wider modelling undertaken by KCC but reflecting the perceived increased accuracy of the AIMSUN model for the Medway area.
An initial macrosimulation assessment was undertaken to define the areas that would be most affected by the proposals. These areas (called sub-networks) were then used for microsimulation runs to allow for a more detailed analysis.
